EAST LONDON — The International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA) has officially unveiled the agenda for its landmark 28th Annual Conference, scheduled to run from 25 to 28 August 2026 at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC).

This year’s summit, convening under the urgent theme “Rewriting the Agenda: Internationalisation Through a Global South Lens,” is poised to bring together hundreds of global higher education leaders, policymakers, and academics to challenge traditional, Eurocentric frameworks of academic partnership.

As geopolitical shifts and rapid technological advancements redraw the geopolitical map, global universities face mounting pressure to reform. This year's four-day international symposium aims to place intellectual leadership and innovations from Africa, Latin America, and Asia at the centre of the global education dialogue.

According to IEASA organizers, the primary objective is to forge highly equitable, context-driven partnerships that move away from historically one-sided academic mobility models. Delegates will focus heavily on knowledge diplomacy and digital engagement strategies designed to uplift local communities while maintaining global relevance.
